Building Construction materials database

KACST Building Construction Materials Database ( BCMD ) is the vehicle to document, evaluate, and disseminate usable information on sustainable materials, products, systems, and services for the commercial and residential building construction industry in the Kingdom.

The database was developed to list different type of materials and products which can be accessed by the cost estimate software. Both packages initially developed for housing buildings that could help and guide local residents to select the products that can help them reduce the construction cost. The database is planned to be a useful and progressive tool for those specifying product related to decisions making for building construction projects.

The database contains most materials used in construction. The products are listed under four major areas, Mechanical, Electrical, Structural and Architectural. Each category has different type sub categories. The system is flexible to add more types and search engine provided for easy access for specific company or product type. Technical specifications and cost can be viewed for all items which help to select and compare different products. 

In the near future additional features will be developed to accommodate the estimation of all buildings and structures type that are classified in the Building Code.

In order for the database to be useful it must contain up to date information, and the best way for that to happen is for users and product manufacturers to contribute in updating whenever appropriate. The addition of timely information updates will keep this tool useful.

The information sheet for products or manufacturer can be submitted via registration link for review by the database technical administrators, and the information, as approved will be added in a timely fashion.
